Heat the oil or thaw the outdoor Moose pond. January 6, 2009 Bob Detmers This works pretty well on the oil pan of my vehicle. It does not have a thermostat. It does need insulation on the back side so that it does not lose heat. I plug it in about 2 hours before I use the vehicle and it does the job of preheating. I also have one of these to keep our Moose pond thawed. The unit is submersible. So far the animals haven't eaten it. So you can use this item for a lot of things, but it has to be attached or submerged in something. It will overheat in the air, by itself. I rated it less than 5 stars because it is not insulated on one side and it does not have a thermostat.
No Grounded Plug !!! On Phone with India for 30 minutes December 3, 2008 Lawrence J. Sapienza (jersey) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
How high is my blood pressure right now, paid for one day shipping , they didn't arrive . When they did arrive no grounded plug. description says 'Three prong grounded plug" CSA Approved , well I count 2 prongs and for using them outside that's BS. Amazon get your description correct, you have cost me money and precious time in keeping my vehicles operating in the cold weather and then to be connected to India, where I'm not even sure she knew what a prong was... was another waste of my time.Sell what you advertise.
good product November 19, 2008 Djfargo (Moorhead, Mn USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Warm oil makes my car very happy in winter. Compare a quart of oil sitting on your counter and a quart of oil sitting on your front steps and you can see and feel the difference. The prep work was easy and I have had no problems with it peeling up at any edges. Good product better for your car than a block heater IMHO.
Works great January 31, 2008 Kevin Lynch (Eastern Oregon) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased one of these for my wifes Jeep Liberty Diesel. For some reason Jeep didn't put a block heater in the engine. I put in on the day it came because our temp was dropping below zero at night. I was concerned it may not stay on but I cleaned the bottom of the oil pan well and sealed it with temp silicone. It has been on there a month and looks like it will stay. That first morning I went out it was 9 below, I crawled under the Liberty and put my hand on the pad, it was nice and warm to the touch and the Jeep starts up much better when it is that dang cold out. Great product.
