The Steadfast Appliance December 4, 2008 Tom A (Portland, OR USA) I don't know how this reflects on the product today, but I bought this very model in 1982 and have used it at least once a day, often more than that, every day for more than 26 years. I haven't replaced a single part. Have you ever had an electrical appliance last like that? I haven't. It was the best grinder for the money then and apparently it still is.
I am a certified coffee snob and I only make small batches of fresh ground coffee so the capacity has not been a problem, although if I had a 12 cup coffeemaker I'd have to do two batches of beans. And it can't grind all the way down to espresso grind like a burr grinder could, although for many home espresso machines it is more than adequate. I wish all good things lasted like this machine!
Great Entry Level Grinder November 29, 2008 Michael Broda (PDX, OR) I had stuck with buying pre-ground Illy coffee, until I decided to take the big step of grinding my own. It does the trick and I am definitely satisfied with it's performance and the fresh brewed coffee that I enjoy everyday. Easy to store and use, I would recommend this to a friend and even buy another.
This grinder does not have any coarse control and tends to grind on the finer side. It is also useful for spices.
Great item November 29, 2008 Bandana (Rockaway, NJ USA) This grinder does the trick. I don't drink coffee, I use it to grind flax seeds and it's great. Quiet, efficient, good looking.
27 Years of Flawless Operation November 20, 2008 Bridget J. Wilson I don't know how Krups makes money; this coffee grinder is something I have used every morning for more than 27 years. I have few possessions that have served me as well as this grinder. I don't know about spices, etc, but this appliance has served me well. It is the Toyota of appliances, many thousand of miles, often used more than once a day, and still humming. What that everything in life were as dependable as my Krups grinder.
Twenty years - time for a new one November 9, 2008 Alli (Indiana) I bought two of these actually a bit over 20 yrs. ago. My brother's needed replacing last year so I bought a Cuisinart which barely grinds the coffee now in less than a year. What a waste of money! My own Krups needs replacing now because the blades have become dull but it is still running. I'm amazed at some of the negative reviews. And yes, we drink lots of coffee so these little machines have had quite a workout. I plan on buying another Krups so I hope they still make them like they used to!
