 Pin Punches- Chromed Steel and Brass July 25, 2010

This is a set of 8 punches, consisting of 4 pin punches in 2 different materials, unplated brass and chrome-plated steel. They are exactly the same sizes except for the thickness of the plating. The machining work is reasonably accurate, smooth, well-finished. The price is right, as they are made in China (and labeled POUCHES, as one would expect in CHINGlish). The plastic container is well made and sturdy, and I store them in the container in my tool bag, an unexpected extra/freebie. The punches are 3 3/8 " long, by 1/4 inch diameter, if the sizes are important to you.

My experience has been the same as the other posts. The 4 brass ones are very soft. As the one poster mentioned just putting the cap on or pulling it out at an angle can bend them. The chrome ones do not pose an issue like the bass ones do.
All and all this is a decent set for light working.

First: the plastic casing is useless and does not close or protect the product. Then the brass punch are so fragile I broke 3 of them in a matter of hours!!! You get waht you pay for, which is nothing.

The cheap plastic container split open during shipping, leaving the punches rattling around in the box. Almost all of them arrived bent. The brass punches bend VERY easily and the chrome ones aren't much better. This set is cheap, but you get what you pay for.

I bought these punches so I wouldn't mare up some pins in my semi-auto pistol when taking it apart and putting it back together. They do not appear to be very durable, as one of the brass punches broke almost immediately, and another bent. Two of the chrome ones bent also. I now have to be very careful using them, and wouldn't buy them again or recommend them.
