 Amazon daily bargain was not such a bargain July 18, 2010

Amazon offered this as one of their daily bargains, and as I needed a set of torx tips, I sprang for it. And found it disappointing.
Despite the claim that it was a professional set of tools, the fit and finish were less than impressive. The handle, which has various switches and ratchets, rattles, which is not a good sign. Some of the tool tips don't fit well, and a few have me baffled as to how they could possibly be usefully employed.
It was OK, but not really what I wanted.

I'm giving 4 stars because of the auto loading mechanism, the sturdiness of the product, the 'UFO' light, and the included case. But I wished it functions like a ratchet.
The mechanism is great but there are times when the bits won't load properly so I had to pull the body out and in just to re-load. If you are a fast worker, it would happen to you often. But this is just 1 petty complaint for such a great tool. The bits are sturdy and magnetic so the heads won't chip off (like my other bits/drivers) and I could easily pick up a screw that dropped in corner where my finger can't reach.
It's a pretty simple driver except that it has this technology where in you can easily re-load a bit eliminating the hassle of pulling out a bit and replacing it with a new one. If in case the bit you use often is not in the loading chamber, you can easily replace it with the ones included, pull the body out and in, and there you go, the bit is not inside the chamber.
What I really love with this tool is the extra mini driver and the 'UFO' light that comes with the package. I've been looking for a mini driver that has this capability and the one included is as sturdy and efficient as the regular version. The included 'UFO' light has 3 led lights on it that easily slips on to the neck of the driver so you could easily work on areas when lighting is not present.
Overall, a great tool, only if it was ratchetting.

Unit is very solid. I dropped it on the floor and the case did not break or crack. The switching of bits is very simple...very clever engineering.
