4 out of 5 stars FC Twin   November 22, 2008

Plays NES and SNES games.
NES the sound and some of the colors are a little off but not very noticeable unless your looking for them. Plays SNES games flawlessly

They're a few games that the system will not play for the NES. Mainly the Tangen games and Castlevania 3. Wikipedia has a list of known games with errors. I personally haven't had any problems as it plays 99% of the games.

It is also a top loader. so you will not have the issue you did with an NES. The problem with an NES is when you push the game in and then down it actually bent the teeth. That is what caused the flashing light issues as it was failing to make proper contact.

With the FC Twin I just slide the games in and they all come up perfectly. No putting them in over and over again trying to get it to work.

If your a fan of old NES and SNES games the FC Twin is freaking Awesome!

1 out of 5 stars doesn't deliver as advertised   November 16, 2008

Here I was thinking, "Wow, a system that can play BOTH NES and SNES games? Sign me up!"

When I got it, reality sank in.

1. The NES cartridges tend to get stuck in the system, requiring a considerable amount of force to remove them. Not a deal-breaker, but annoying nonetheless.
2. The controller wires are way too short.
3. Of the NES games I tried out on it, most worked. Sort of. Had considerable trouble ducking in Super Mario Bros. 3, but other than that, most of the games seemed to work okay. A few didn't work at all.
4. This is, by far, the unforgiveable sin. The SNES portion doesn't work. It wouldn't play a single game. This is completely unacceptable.

I'll keep it short and sweet. It's a huge disappointment, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Third party products like these are notorious for being unreliable and of poor quality, and this system is no exception. Avoid. Save up and buy the actual Nintendo systems.

when i was young i used to play all these mario and other nes/snes games and now... my kids are playing them thanks to the fc twin system... so far no problem... i thought it will break right away because it's made in china and my kids will sometimes leave it on all night long while they sleep... but so far so good... it works fine...

4 out of 5 stars Good buy overall   September 25, 2008

Obviously I bought this system because it plays both NES and SNES games. It does that easily with a flip of a switch, so it functions as described.

One downside is that the NES slot is actually a little too wide for the games, so it fits incredibly loosely. This causes it to be super sensitive to any kind of movement during play. If you move the system slightly, whether on purpose or on accident (as was the case for me), the game freezes up and you get a blank screen. Since the remote control cords are pretty short, it's pretty easy to accidentally move the system just by sitting too far back from the screen. But since the control plugs are fit for any SNES product, that's easily fixed.

On the other hand, since the plugs are fit for SNES and not NES, classic games like Duck Hunt are apparently not playable on this system.

Also, the body materials seem to be pretty cheap and lightweight, but I didn't expect a whole lot based on the price. Like I said, I bought it so I could play both my NES and SNES games on one system, and it does that just fine. My brother recently came to visit, and we had a blast playing all the games we used to play together as kids.

Overall, this is a great buy for the price. It's a great idea and so much fun!
